Many boys choose a caveman costume for Halloween every year. With the rising costs of costumes in general, it can be hard to accommodate the wants of children during any holiday. Caveman costumes are simple to create and cost efficient, and not to mention really cool. You can customize your caveman costume to make it a one of a kind so that your boy stands out in a crowd.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Leopard print material, such as an adult size old shirt or dress Brown or black leg warmers Scissors Black belt Black head warmer or sweatband Black Halloween face paint Brown makeup powder
  1. Step 1

Fit the old adult size leopard print shirt or dress over the boy to be wearing the costume. If you do not have an old dress or shirt available, you can probably find one at discount store for less than $10. Cut off the sleeves with the scissors. You can also create a V-neck by cutting from one corner of the neckline to the other corner in a V shape.

  2. Step 2

Pull the leg warmers onto the legs from the feet up. The leg warmers should hit no higher than just below the knee area. Place the black belt around the waist and cinch it to fit. Pull upward on the shirt area so that the material covers the belt completely by hanging over and obscuring it.

  3. Step 3

Cut from one leg upward toward the other hip across the front in a zigzag fashion to create a small ragged appearance to the edges. The shorter side of the costume should only be cut a total of about 5 inches higher than the longest side.

  4. Step 4

Place the head warmer or sweatband on the head and position just above the eyebrows and ears of the child.

  5. Step 5

Put a streak of black Halloween face paint under the child's eyes and dust the brown makeup powder over his face to create a dirty looking face.

  6. Step 6

Mess up the child's hair for a real authentic caveman look.

Tips & Warnings
  • To add to the costume, a stick from the yard can double as a club when covered with the excess material from the sleeves and bottom of the shirt or dress. If a belt is not available, the remainder of the scrap taken from the bottom of the shirt or dress can be used as a tie-around belt.
