Blushing.
Blushing.

Blushing happens when you experience events that are embarrassing. It is caused by the small blood vessels in your face dilating. As a result of this, blood flows too quickly to the face, causing it to redden. It is possible for some people to blush even when they aren't necessarily embarrassed, and when this happens often enough, you can develop a fear of blushing, which of course makes the problem even worse. Here is how to get rid of blushing.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Relax. When you start to feel yourself getting embarrassed and your face warm, take a few deep breaths and relax. Over time you will be able to train yourself to stop the blushing before it has a chance to start.

  2. Step 2

Limit your alcohol and spicy food intake. Both of these can cause the small blood vessels in your face to dilate and hence cause your face to become red.

  3. Step 3

Don't try to hide your blushing when it happens. The more accepting you become of the fact that you sometimes blush, the less often it will occur.

  4. Step 4

Remind yourself often that everyone blushes at one time or another. That way, when you feel a blush coming on, you can either stop it in its tracks or shorten the duration of your blush.

  5. Step 5

Drop your shoulders, relax your muscles, breath deeply and push out your stomach when you feel yourself beginning to blush. All these things will help to stop the rush of blood flow to the head and thus prevent you from blushing.

Tips & Warnings
  • Consider learning self-hypnosis and then use it to teach yourself not to blush. Consider taking a yoga class to learn how to breath properly and relax. Meditation is another great way to learn to relax and thus reduce the occurrence of blushing.
