W32.Virut.U is a highly infectious virus that attacks the computers running the Windows operating system. It infects executable and ".scr" files on your computer. After spreading to as many files as possible, it will then attempt to open a backdoor on your computer. Once the W32.Virut.U virus opens a backdoor, it will attempt to download additional malware and provide private information to remote servers. Open the "Task Manager" by pressing the "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Del" keys simultaneously. Left click the "antvrs.exe" process and select the "End Process" menu option.

Select the "Start" menu and type "antvrs.exe" in the search text field, and hit the "Enter" key.

Left click the "antvrs.exe" file when the search completes and hit the "Delete" key.

Select the "Start" menu and type "command" in the "Search" text field.

Remove the virus' directory by typing "rmdir /S antivirus 2008" to remove the remainder of the directory containing the virus.
