Whether you use the Internet for business or pleasure, changing your homepage to be one of your frequently viewed websites can be a great way to customize your Internet browsing experience. Internet Explorer (or IE), a popular web browser, makes changing your default homepage a very simple and straightforward process. Even the most novice Internet user should have no trouble at all.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

    For Internet Explorer 7

  1. Step 1

Open Internet Explorer, and then go to the page you would like to make your IE homepage.

  2. Step 2

Find the "Home" button on the toolbar, and click on the little arrow just to the right of the icon. From the drop-down menu that appears, select the "Add or Change home page" option.

  3. Step 3

Select the option that says "Use this webpage as your only home page" in the "Add or Change Home Page" that appeared. You can also select the option "Add this web page to your home page tabs" if you would like a choice of more than one homepage, or select the "use the current tab set as your home page" option if you have more than one tab open in IE and would like to replace one of your already existing homepage tabs. Click "OK" and the current web page will now be your new default home page.

  4. Previous Versions of Internet Explorer

  5. Step 1

Open Internet Explorer, and then go to the page you would like to make your IE homepage.

  6. Step 2

Find the "Internet Options" dialogue box. For Internet Explorer 4 and earlier, this will be located under the "View" menu. For Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Explorer 6, this will be under the "Tools" menu. Also, if you are using IE 5 or 6, you will also have to click the "General" tab on the "Internet Options" dialogue box, as well.

  7. Step 3

Select the "Use Current" option. If you wish to have a different webpage for your homepage, you can also type in the URL in the "Address" section, instead of selecting the "Use Current" option. Click "OK" and the current webpage will now be your new default home page.
