How to Make Princess-Style Gloves

Dressing up like a princess is all about the accessories. No matter how beautiful your dress is, your costume will look boring and plain if it does not have elaborate jewelry, a crown or tiara, or gloves. Almost every time you see a princess wearing gloves, it gives her a much more regal and sophisticated look. Even fancier than regular gloves are long gloves that cover almost the entire arm. Although these gloves are nearly an extension of the sleeve of a gown, they are incredibly easy to make as long as you have basic sewing skills.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 yard fabric
  • Matching thread
  • Sewing machine
  • Fabric scissors

Place your hand and arm, palm down, on your fabric (the right side of the fabric should be facing down). Trace around your hand and your arm all the way from your fingertips to about 3 inches past your elbow, leaving a seam allowance of about 1/2 inch. Cut out the pattern you have traced.

Repeat Step 1, except this time trace your hand and arm with your palm facing up (again, the right side of the fabric should be facing down).

Sew the two pieces together, keeping the right sides together. Hem the top of the glove.

Turn the glove right side out, using a wooden dowel to turn the fingers right side out.

Repeat Steps 1 through 4 with your other hand.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a shiny fabric to make the gloves more princesslike.
