How to Change a Default Internet Browser

There are lots of web browser options available to the savvy Internet user. Maybe you don't like one feature about a particular browser and you like a feature another browser has to offer. But every time you click a link in your e-mail, the browser you despise always opens. Happily, you can change all that to get the browser you want, and set it as your default.

Instructions

  1. Internet Explorer

      Launch the Internet Explorer web browser.

      Click "Tools."

      Select "Internet Options" from the drop-down menu.

      Click the "Programs" tab.

      Click the "Make Default Browser" button.

    Mozilla Firefox

      Open a Firefox web browser.

      Click "Tools."

      Select "Options" from the drop-down menu. An options window will open.

      Click "Advanced."

      Click the "Check Now" button under system defaults to check whether Firefox is the default browser. If it is not the default, you will be given the option to make it the default.

    Google Chrome

      Open a Google Chrome web browser.

      Click the wrench icon in the right-hand corner of the browser.

      Select "Options" from the drop-down menu. This opens a Google Chrome Options window.

      Select the "Basics" tab.

      Click the "Make Google Chrome my default browser" to make it your default web browser.
