How to Care for a Jute Rug
Jute is a natural plant fiber that is inexpensive and durable. It is second only to cotton in its many uses. Jute rugs are available in natural, organic colors, or they may be dyed in bright patterns and designs. Jute's only nemesis is moisture--too much and the fibers will begin to break down. Jute rugs also don't fare well in high humidity environments, such as bathrooms. With proper care a jute rug will last many years in your home. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

1
Vacuum the rug regularly, once to twice a week. Vacuum with and against the grain of the jute weaving. Flip upside down and vacuum the reverse side the same way.
-
2
Blot up moisture and spills immediately with an absorbent cloth. Replace the cloth as needed until most of the moisture has been removed.
-
-
3
Dampen the cloth with club soda if the stain does not blot up. Blot again with the club soda dampened cloth, then dry immediately with a hair dryer.
-
4
Lay the rug in front of a fan to dry if it becomes wet. This will keep mold and mildew from growing in the rug.
-
5
Use a spray protector specially made for jute and grass rugs to prevent moisture absorption if you live in a high-humidity area.
