Changing the mouse pointer icon in Windows XP is one way in which you can customize your desktop to fit your own personality and interests. You can find pointer icons on the Internet of your favorite sports team, dog breed, band logo or whatever you want to download as your pointer icon. You can also use a small, low-resolution image to replace your pointer.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Click "Start" on the Taskbar menu.

  2. Step 2

    Open the Control Panel.

  3. Step 3

Double-click the Mouse option. This opens a new window to change mouse settings.

  4. Step 4

Click on the "Pointers" tab in the mouse window.

  5. Step 5

Select a new pointer icon from the options available in Windows mouse scheme or hit the Browse button near the bottom of the window to search for an image on your computer you'd like to use as the pointer icon.
