How to Play Bocci Ball
Bocce ball is fun and easy to learn and can be played by people of all ages. In bocce ball, players select a pair of bocce balls and attempt to bowl them closest to an object ball. The field need not be any particular length as the game can be played on almost any surface: from clay or gravel courts to your own backyard.

Choose teams and select bocce balls. Bocce ball can be played with two to eight players. The bocce balls come in pairs and are distinguishable by color or design. Each player should select one pair of bocce balls.

Agree upon a set number of rounds to be played or a set score to be reached--agreeing upon this before beginning the game helps to identify an ultimate victor and helps to put parameters on when the game will end.

Select a player to throw the object ball, called a pallino. The pallino is a small, white ball about the same size as a golf ball.

The player selected to throw the pallino should toss it anywhere within the playing field to begin the match.

Take turns bowling the bocce balls toward the pallino. The object of the game is to get your bocce ball closest to the pallino. Each player should bowl one bocce ball and wait for the other players to bowl their bocce ball before bowling a second bocce ball. Continue until all players have bowled their bocce balls.

Add up points and assess the scores. A player earns one point for his bocce ball being the closest to the pallino. If two balls appear to be equally close, use a stick or a piece of string to determine who is the closest. Continue through each step until the set number of rounds, or score, is reached.

Tips & Warnings
Throw the pallino in a place that is challenging to reach, but not so challenging that a bocce ball cannot come close to it.
