The purpose of skin pores is to secrete oil and hydrate your skin. Pores tend to be more noticeable on the face, especially on foreheads, chins and sides of noses. There are no permanent solutions to shrink the size of your pores. However, taking care of your facial pores will help reduce their appearance. A good facial care routine helps maintain clean pores and lessen chances to develop breakouts. The following is a guideline for pore maintenance.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Facial scrubs or exfoliating pads Blackhead extractor or pore strips Blotting papers A daily facial cleanser
  1. Step 1

Exfoliate your skin with a gentle scrub or pads containing alpha hydroxy acids. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells from the surface and prevents them from blocking pore openings.

  2. Step 2

Use a blackhead extractor or pore strip to pull up blackheads and sebum. Gunk sitting in the pore stretches out the pore opening. Clear pores allow an even oil flow from your oil glands.

  3. Step 3

Remove all traces of makeup and sunscreen products before going to bed. Use cold cream to loosen heavy makeup.

  4. Step 4

Cleanse you face no more than twice a day. Excessive cleaning will encourage oil production in your pores. Instead, use blotting papers for your face throughout the day.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid using your nails to squeeze blackheads or pimples. Always wash your hands with soap before touching your face.
