How to Use Naui Dive
Dive tables are used to plan safe diving limits of dive time and depth. All SCUBA diver training teaches the principles of safe diving to avoid nitrogen overload in the body and release of nitrogen when on the surface (called surface interval or off-gassing). Dive planning software is available for Pocket PCs and smartphones to provide divers with a convenient tool to plan dives. Blackwave is the developer for Dive Assistant, shareware that can be installed on your Pocket PC to display the dive table and calculates no-decompression dives based on the dive tables. All dive calculators and programs contain proprietary algorithms, and this shareware has been described as the "Naui Dive" software.
Instructions
-
-
1
Launch your dive table application, such as Dive Assistant, on your Pocket PC and click the "No Deco" tab at the bottom of the screen.
-
2
Identify your maximum depth of your dive in the top row of the table. Move down that column until you reach your estimated duration for your dive (bottom time).
Look at the left column for your corresponding pressure group letter.
If planning multiple dives, click the "SI" tab at the bottom of the screen. -
-
3
Enter your surface interval in the "SI" field for Dive 1 and press the "Enter" button. Click the "Repetitive" tab at the bottom and review your pressure group calculations.
-
4
Identify your maximum depth of your dive in the top row of the table. Move down that column until you reach your estimated duration for your dive (bottom time). The residual nitrogen time (RNT) is calculated in the table.
Look at the left column for your corresponding pressure group letter.
For additional dives for that day, repeat steps 3 and 4 as desired. -
5
Manually check the calculations using your dive tables: step 2 corresponds to information in Table 1; step 3 corresponds to Table 2, and Table 3 methodology is outlined in steps 3 and 4.

Tips & Warnings
The dive application and dive tables do not calculate multilevel dives. For multilevel dive calculations, consider using the PADI eRDP-m or your digital dive computer's "Planning" function. Add other dive tables such as IANTD, NOAA and SSI as Blackwave has them available for download by clicking the "Manage" option in your application and selecting your default dive table.
You will exceed no-decompression dive limits if the application displays "Deco" or your pressure group calculation directs you to a black box on Table 1. Extend your surface interval or plan a shallower dive to stay within NDL (no decompression limit) guidelines.
