How To Make a Homemade Yellow Cake

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the oven and set it to 375 degrees F.

    • 2

Drop the tablespoon of butter in the paper towel.

    • 3

Rub the butter all over the baking dish with the paper towel so the sides and the bottom are thoroughly greased.

    • 4

Put the sugar, salt, baking powder and flour into the medium-sized mixing bowl.

    • 5

Combine the ingredients with the wooden spoon.

    • 6

Put the eggs, milk, vanilla and stick of margarine in the large mixing bowl.

    • 7

Mash the butter up with the wooden spoon to make it easier to blend into the other ingredients.

    • 8

Blend the butter mixture with the hand-held blender on medium speed until creamy.

    • 9

Add 1/2 cup of the flour mixture to the butter mixture and blend thoroughly.

    • 10

Scrape the sides of the larger mixing bowl with the wooden spoon so that all the ingredients are blended together.

    • 11

Keep adding the flour mixture at half-cup intervals and blending it, as well as scraping the sides of the bowl, until all the ingredients are combined in the large mixing bowl.

    • 12

Turn the blender on high speed and mix the batter for 2 minutes. This aerates the batter and makes it fluffy after baking.

    • 13

Pour the batter into the baking dish. Scrape the sides with the wooden spoon to clean the excess from the bowl.

    • 14

Bake for 35 minutes. However, check the cake after 25 minutes by poking the fork into a couple places in the center of the cake in case your oven cooks very hot. When the tines are clean after being removed from the cake, it's done baking.

    • 15

Let the cake cool for 2 hours before icing it.
