Creating great funky hairstyles can be as easy as changing up your usual products and styling tools. Altering one's hair to be more funky requires imagination, creativity and patience. Celebrities who have mastered funky hair have stylists and experts who work around the clock to get funky-inspired hair ideas. You can master funky hairstyles with a few tips.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Color-tinted hairspray Comb Bobby pins Cutting shears Ponytail holders
  1. Step 1

Use tinted hairspray to alter hair color. The best way to get funky is to think out of the box in terms of color, so bolder choices like red or neon blue work best. Tinted hairspray is likely to be less harmful than spray paints or chemical dyes.

  2. Step 2

Comb your hair to one side and create a deep side part. Start a braid at the part and then stop just past the ear.

  3. Step 3

Bobby pin the braid in place. Now gather your hair at your crown and secure with a ponytail holder. Whether your hair is tinted or not, this simple style is funky enough with or without color.

  4. Step 4

Cut an angular style that is short in the back. This takes a bit of skill as the major cuts you make are to the back of your hair. Angle the shears parallel to the floor, and cut an even line along the back just under the nape of the neck.

  5. Step 5

Cut the front of your hair so that it is just 2 or 3 inches longer than the back. This look will be intensified if it is colored a bright unnatural color.

  6. Step 6

Cut new blunt bangs. If you would rather not trim your hair drastically this is the best alternative to a funky cut. Angle your scissors parallel to the floor and cut even bangs that fall just short of your eye lashes. Lash-grazing bangs look extra funky when tinted and paired with pigtails.
