How to Design a Logo for Free

One thing nearly all businesses have is a logo. Whether online or at a physical location, a logo serves as a unique identifier for companies and products around the world, making them visually distinctive for consumers. Designing a logo can be a creative and innovative task because it speaks for the company and product. Logos should be catchy, colorful and marketable to add flair to the company or product itself. You can create a professional logo for free by simply completing approximately five steps.

  1. Step 1

    Visit www.logomaker.com. Click on the "Design It For Free" link. A design portal will automatically open in a pop-up screen.

  2. Step 2

    Choose an image for your logo. Click on the list of topics at the top of the design portal. Choose the topic that relates to the type of design you wish to create. The design portal will then display a list of thumbnail images that you can choose from. Double-click on an image you like and click "Next" at the bottom of the design portal. The image will be placed on a design grid.

  3. Step 3

    Customize the lettering and font style. At the bottom of the grid, you will see blank data form designed for text. Enter your text. On the drop-box menu next to the data form, choose a font style. Click on the font style to highlight it. Once it is highlighted, it should appear at the top of the font-style drop box.

  4. Step 4

    Choose the size and position of your the imaging and font. Highlight the portion of the design you wish to edit. Once it is highlighted, the outlined area of the region will be flashing. You will see an editorial pane on the right side of the screen. Use these tools to change the size of the image and font. To change the position of the image and font, click on the highlighted region and drag it where you want on the grid.

  5. Step 5

    Create a user account with LogoMaker online. Once you click on the "Save" button at the bottom of your final logo design, your screen will redirect to a user account screen. You will be prompted to create a user account with LogoMaker to save your design. Fill out the blank data forms designated for your first and last name, email address, a user name and password. Click "Submit" once you have completed the data forms to create your user account and save your design.

Tips & Warnings
  • Get some ideas for your logo. Check out the sample logos and icons LogoMaker has to offer (see Resources).
  • Create a user account to save your logo design just in case you wish to edit it at a later date or create a new one. If you do not have a user account or exit out of the LogoMaker website, you will not be able to recover logo design and it will be lost. The initial logo design and HTML image of your design is free. But if you would like to use the logo for use other than online, you will have to purchase the logo or have it duplicated by a third-party source.
