How to Use the Netgear 834G Router

The Netgear 834G Router/Modem consolidates a wireless router and DSL modem into one unit. In a few simple steps you can set up your DSL service and wireless home network at the same time. Read on to find out how you can set up your Netgear 834G and browse the web at blazing speeds.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Plug one end of a phone cable into the white "internet" port on the back of your Netgear 834G router/modem combo--plug the other end of the cable into a DSL phone filter. Plug the phone filter into a phone jack.

  2. Step 2

    Connect the router/modem to your computer via an Ethernet cable. Plug one end of the cable into one of the yellow Ethernet ports on the back of your Netgear 834G and plug the other end into the Ethernet port on your computer's network card.

  3. Step 3

    Connect the AC power adapter to the power port on the back of the router/modem and plug it into a power outlet.

  4. Step 4

    Open your operating system's web browser on your computer. Type "http://192.168.0.1" into the address bar and press "Enter" on your keyboard.

  5. Step 5

    Select the option to either let the router/modem auto-configure itself or configure it yourself.
