Take the product any time you feel distress; it is generally considered to be most effective if taken shortly after meals and/or at bedtime.

Decide whether you prefer tablets or liquid. Tablets are more convenient but liquid acts more rapidly.

If using tablets, chew thoroughly and drink a glass of water afterward.

If using the liquid form, be certain to shake well before taking it. It is not necessary to drink water afterward.

Refrigeration of the liquid might make it taste more pleasant, but it should never be frozen.
Maalox can have side effects, most commonly either diarrhea or constipation. This preparation contains ingredients that may provoke an allergic or hypersensitive reaction. These are peppermint oil, sorbitol, methylparaben and propylparaben. If you have reactions to these substances, you should seek alternative treatment: Consult your physician if you are taking other medications, or if there is no improvement after using this product for 2 weeks. This product should not be used by persons with Alzheimer's, or those suffering from abdominal pain or nausea.
