How to Add Non-Steam Games to Steam

Steam is far more than an online video game retailer. It is a service offered by Valve that can manage and automatically update any and all games purchased from the service. Steam isn't limited to games purchased from its service. Through a quick and easy process, you can list every single game on your computer; whether they're on Steam or not.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Steam. Allow the program a minute to fully initialize.

    • 2

Click on the "My Games" tab to bring up a list of the games you currently have on Steam.

    • 3

Click the "Add non-Steam game..." button located on the bottom left of the window, just above Steam's options menu.

    • 4

Give Steam a couple of minutes for the program to scan your computer for all of your software.

    • 5

Select the games you want to add to your Steam games menu and click "Add Selected Programs." The programs will now be available on the Steam launcher.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can add non-game programs to Steam as well, as Steam scans for all launchable programs on your computer.

  • Not all games that Steam detects can be launched from Steam. A select few games will give error messages and automatically close. If this happens to you, don't be alarmed.
