How to Dissasemble a Pool Table
If you want to change the location of your recreation room and need to move your pool table, you will likely need to take the table apart in order to lift it and fit it through doorways. Or, if you are moving from your house and want to take your pool table with you, you will need to disassemble the table in order to safely pack it with your other belongings. While it's advisable to hire a professional to take apart a pool table, it's possible to do it on your own.

Remove the pockets. In order to remove pockets from a pool table, you'll need to remove all of the staples. They can be pried away using a standard screwdriver.

Use a socket wrench to remove the bolts holding the side rails to the table. These will be out of sight beneath the rails and generally there are three bolts per rail. The size of the bolts vary by pool table, so have several socket sizes on hand.

Take off the rails. They may slide off as four separate pieces, one for each side of the rectangle, or they may be in two U-shaped pieces that meet in the middle at each side pocket. To remove U-shaped rails, flip the railing over as one piece and unlock the pieces one from the other. The rails may be connected with screws or locked together with no additional pieces.

Detach the felt from the tabletop. The felt can be stapled or glued, or both. Use a standard screwdriver to remove any staples from the felt. To remove glued felt, carefully peel it away from the table by hand.

Unfasten the screws holding the slate tabletop to the wood frame. There should be at least one screw at each corner. More than likely, there will be some substance covering the screws. A plaster covering can be removed by chipping away the plaster with a screwdriver and hammer, or with a drill and carbide bit.

Tip the frame onto its side and remove the table legs one at a time. Table legs are held on with basic screws that can be removed with a screwdriver or drill. Once the table legs are removed, the rest of the table can be broken down for transport.
