How to Frame a Wedding Picture
Your wedding was the most wonderful day of your life and you have the pictures to prove it. However, those beautiful, and most often expensive, portraits of you and your new spouse are sitting in a box on a shelf in the closet collecting dust. Bring them out and put them on display. Framing a wedding picture is easy and will allow you to display your photo with pride.

1
Choose a photo to frame. A professional wedding photographer is not only going to be taking pictures of the event itself, but also of you and your spouse. The portraits he takes of the two of you, along with your bridal party and family members, should definitely be considered frameable. Find a picture that means something more to you than just a regular picture.

2
Measure the picture to be framed. Measure accurately; the rest of the framing process revolves around this measurement. A larger photo, 8x10 or 11x14, combined with several smaller pictures can make a nice display on your wall.

Purchase the mat. A mat will protect the picture from the glass. It should have an opening slightly smaller than the size of your picture. The total size of the mat should be the next standard photo frame size up from the size of your photo. For example, the mat for an 8x10 photo will be 11x14, and the mat for a 5x7 photo will be 8x10. Your mat should enhance the look and feel of the picture, not detract from it. Pick a mat color that is already present somewhere in the picture itself and will bring out that feature of the picture.

4
Purchase a frame. A wide variety of frames are available from many sources. The frame you select should, again, enhance the look and feel of the picture, not become the focus point. If you are framing a portrait, consider something a bit more elaborate, but still in keeping with the style of the photo. If framing a picture of family, look at something simpler, such as a standard silver or black frame that will bring attention to the photo itself.

5
Frame your photo. Place the picture behind the opening of the mat so that the photo is facing the same direction as the front of the mat. Tape the edges of the photo down with archival tape. Place the matted picture onto the glass already laying inside the frame. Place the frame backing on the back of the mat inside the frame and tighten the fasteners provided.
