How to Remove the Burn4free Toolbar
There are many different kinds of toolbars that people install on their computers. Although some are installed on purpose, there are just as many toolbars that are accidentally installed. In some cases, these toolbars are installed by malware. In other cases, they are installed legitimately, but users do not know that they are installed because they were included as part of another program download. This is often the case with "Burn4free," which is a legitimate toolbar, only not one that most people want or need. Regardless of how the toolbar is installed, it can be removed.
Instructions
-
Internet Explorer
-
1
Go to the "Control Panel" in Windows XP by selecting the "Start" menu on the bottom left of the home screen. "Control Panel" can be selected after the "Start" menu opens.
-
2
Locate the "Add or Remove Programs" icon in the "Control Panel." If the menu is on the "Category View" setting, the icon for "Add or Remove Programs" can be found on the left hand side of the window, third from the top. Double click on the icon.
-
-
3
Be patient as the list populates. Depending on computer speed and the number of programs on the computer, this could take a couple of minutes.
-
4
Scroll through the list after it appears. Look for the item that says "Burn4Free." Because the items show up in the window in alphabetical order, this toolbar should be near the top of the list.
-
5
Click on the toolbar entry to highlight it. A "Change and Remove" button will appear in the highlighted section. Click on "Remove." The toolbar will begin uninstalling.
-
6
Close any of the open windows and re-open Internet Explorer. The toolbar will now be gone from the top of the screen.
Firefox
-
7
Open Firefox. Click on the "Tools" menu in the browser menu.
-
8
Click on "Add-ons." If an older version of Firefox is being used, it might say "Extensions" instead of "Add-ons."
-
9
Find the entry for the "Burn4Free" toolbar in the window that opens. Click on the "Extensions" tab if you clicked on "Add-ons" in the previous step.
-
10
Scroll through the list under "Extensions" and find "Burn4Free Toolbar." Click on this item and then click on "Uninstall" on the screen.
-
11
Close Firefox and restart. The "Burn4Free" toolbar will now be gone.

Tips & Warnings
The most effective toolbars are those that provide a broad range of services. Google and Yahoo! toolbars are among some of the more popular toolbars.
Automatically clicking "next" on each installation screen when downloading a program increases the likelihood a toolbar will be installed on your computer.
