How To Block Caller ID Information

If you need to block your phone's caller ID information when placing a call, there are two things you can do that will block your phone number.

Instructions

      To temporarily block your cell phone number, press *67 and then dial the number you wish to call. Example: Instead of dialing (930) 555-7555, dial *679305557555. Always dial *67 before you make a call.

      To permanently block your cell phone's caller ID information, call your cell phone carrier's customer service department and request a line block.

      When your number is blocked it will always show up on the other person's phone as "Private Number."

Tips & Warnings

  • Dialing *67 before dialing a phone number also works to block numbers for land line phones.

  • If you choose to block your cell phone caller ID information for most calls, your number will not be blocked from emergency services and toll-free numbers such as 800, 900 and 700. Some cell phone carriers charge a monthly fee for the line block service.
