How to Use a Black & Decker Drill

      Purchase the proper accessories for the application. Depending on the model that you choose, you may find that you have some attachment accessories that were included. Every model will come with at least one or two drill bits. You can find some of the tool accessories that you might need at the website under the additional resources.

      Charge your battery fully before operating the cordless drill (or just plug in your corded Black & Decker drill to a standard 120V outlet). Place the battery in the charger unit and plug it into an outlet. For the first charge, it should remain in the charger unit for about 9 to 10 hours, while charges after that should only take between 3 and 6 hours.

      Switch the forward/reverse switch to the lock position, which is in the center.

      Install the tool head that you want to use by matching the arrows on the tool head to the arrows on the drill unit. It should click to indicate that the tool head was installed properly and has locked into position.

      Clip the charged battery to the bottom of the drill, making sure that the release clip is engaged and holding the battery in place.

      Switch the forward/reverse switch into the position that you need. The reverse is used to remove things, such as screws. For all other uses, you should use the forward position.

      Access the keyless chuck to change accessories. With the keyless chuck, you will need to grasp the chuck in one hand while using the other hand to turn the front portion counterclockwise. Then, you insert the tool into the chuck and tighten the chuck by turning the front part clockwise while holding the back part still.
