How to Remove Trojan Chost Virus
The Trojan Virus Chost is a malware program that will modify your computer's Internet settings so that your web browser is redirected to other websites. It will also modify the "Favorites" entries in Internet Explorer so that when you select a "favorite" website your web browser will go to a website chosen by the Chost Trojan. Your computer can become infected with the Chost virus through other Trojan viruses, infected multimedia files and through social networking sites such as MySpace or Facebook. The Chost Trojan virus has been on the Internet for a number of years and can be removed automatically using anti-virus programs. Chost attacks computers that use the Windows Operating system running Internet Explorer.

Download and install an anti-virus program if you do not have one installed on your computer from one of the resources listed in this article. If you already have an anti-virus program, update the virus definitions for the program by selecting the applicable menu on the anti-virus program to "Update the Virus Definitions."

Run a complete anti-virus scan of your computer's local drives by selecting the "Scan Local Drives" menu option from your anti-virus program.

Select the "Delete or Clean Infected Files" menu on your anti-virus program to removed the files that are infected by the Chost Trojan.

Open your computer's Windows Explorer by selecting the "Windows + e" keyboard keys. Navigate to the "c:\windows" folder by left-clicking the "Windows" directory. Double-left-click the "Hosts" file in the Windows directory, and left-click the "Notepad" application to open the "Hosts" file in your computer's text editor. Delete all uniform resource locator (URL) entries from "www.080.idv.tw" to the top of the file, and select "File->Save" from Notepad's file menu, and exit Notepad.

Reboot your computer to ensure the Chost Trojan will be removed from your computer.
