How to get Half-Life 2 to work on Windows Vista 64 bit

Is it possible to get Half-Life 2 to work on Windows Vista 64 bit? The answer is yes! With a few simple tweaks to the shortcut used to launch Half-Life 2, you can run Half-Life 2 on Windows Vista 64 bit in 32 bit mode - with no errors! This tweak will even work on Windows 7 64 bit as well!

Things You'll Need:

• Windows Vista
• Half-Life 2

1. Close Half-Life 2 if it's already open.

2. Locate the shortcut icon used to launch Half-Life 2.

3. Right-click on the shortcut icon and choose "Properties".

4. Click on the "Shortcut" tab.

5. In the "Target" field, add the following right after steam.exe: -applaunch 220 -32bit

6. It should now look similar to the following: "C:\Program Files\Steam\steam.exe" -applaunch 220 -32bit

7. Click on "OK" to save your settings and continue.

8. There you have it! Half-Life 2 should now work flawlessly on Windows Vista 64 bit or even Windows 7 64 bit, in reliable 32 bit mode!

on 8/6/2009 I followed the instructions to a tee... and Steam comes up, then i look at the Servers list windows,(so far so good), go to connect to server..... nothing. HL2 and CSS are the same engine,(same Program), will not Launch.... anyone get HL2 to run on vista 64-bit???
