Train Your Cat to Sit and Shake

Yes, you can teach your cat how to sit and shake. My cat learned in 3 days. Don't worry if your cat doesn't learn that quickly just be patient and keep trying. All cats are different.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • treats
  • camera to take pictures for memories(optional)
  1. Step 1

The first thing that you want to do is teach your cat how to sit. I snap my figures together to get my cat attention. Plus it helps the cat remember the trick a lot easier. So, snap your figures together or clap, then rub your hand down your cats back and put a small amount of pressure on your cats bottom to force the cat to sit down.

  2. Step 2

After your cat has learned how to sit. Then the next thing you should do is teach your cat how to shake. First introduce your cat to some treats. I give my cat Pounce it's made with real tuna. You can get those at Pet Smart.

  3. Step 3

Get your cat to sit by your command, then grab your cats paw and shake it yourself. Then give your cat a treat. Then say things like good boy/girl in a high friendly voice. Then repeat steps 1-3 over and over again until the cat does the trick on their own.
    Enjoy and good luck!

Tips & Warnings
  • You may need to repeat step 3 repeatedly, cats are hard headed and getting them the shake can take time. This is also easier when the cat is younger. As cats get older they become into themselves and don't want to listen. I taught my cat this at the age of 1 year 7 months old.
  • Try not to feed your cat too many treats you don't want to give your cat a belly ache.
