Take control of your browsing experience and limit the number of popup windows in Firefox. By default, Firefox allows up to 20 popup windows to open at once! Such a large number of popups can be an overwhelming not to mention annoying situation. Follow these simple steps to limit the number of popup windows in Firefox and start enjoying your browsing experience again.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mozilla Firefox
  1. Step 1

    If you haven't already, download and install the latest version of Firefox.

  2. Step 2

    Open Firefox and type the following in the address bar: about:config

  3. Step 3

    When asked if you'd like to continue, select "Yes".

  4. Step 4

    To find this setting type the following in the filter bar: dom.popup_maximum

  5. Step 5

    Double-click this setting to change its value. Choose a limit between 1 and 20. Click on "OK" when you're done.

  6. Step 6

    Restart Firefox to allow the change to take affect.

  7. Step 7

    That's it! Firefox will now limit the number of popup windows that launch.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember, when changing a setting, it's always a good idea to make note as to what the default setting is "before" you change it. This way, if for some reason you need to reverse the changes, you can do so with ease.
