How to Write an Onomatopoeia Poem

Onomatopoeia words describe the sounds that people, animals, and inanimate objects make. For example, a cat purrs when happy. Other examples of onomatopoeia words include sizzle, crack, vroom, baa, and twang. Onomatopoeia words can make a poem livelier, for instead of pronouncing the word, the sound is made. Instead of saying the word purr, for instance, the student imitates the purring sound.

Instructions

1. First, to write an onomatopoeia poem, the student needs to decide on a theme. Just say the student's theme is noise.

2. Second, the student needs to incorporate different sounds. Even though an onomatopoeia poem does not have to rhyme throughout, it still has to make sense.

3. Third - remember when reading the poem, make the sounds instead of saying the pronouncing the words. Below is an example.
   Noise! Noise! Noise!
   Everywhere I go
   I always hear noise!
   Water splashing.
   Tires squealing.
   Rain trickling.
   Horns honking.
   Pots banging.
   Bees buzzing.
   Frogs croaking.
   But the best noise of all
   Is the pitter patter of the feet
   Of my baby brother Skeet.
