Difficulty: Moderately Easy

  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tblsp oil
  • few drops of food coloring (optional)
  1. Step 1

While cooking, make sure not to let the play dough touch your clothes if you put food coloring in it. It may create stains.

Take your ingredients and combine all of them into a medium-sized pot.

  2. Step 2

Place the pot onto a stove. Turn the heat to a medium setting. Cook and stir continually the mixture until the substance forms a soft ball.

  3. Step 3

Remove the play dough from the pot and place it on a floured counter. Knead it until it becomes elastic and smooth.

  4. Step 4

Take your fresh batch of play dough and create something. Cookie-cutters can be used to make interesting shapes. Be sure to tore the play dough in a sealed container to prevent it from hardening after you are done.
