Nail art done by myself, Megan Wagner

This is an easy way to get started on doing some simple nail art. You don't have to be an artist to make your nails look fun and beautiful.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • nail polishes or paints, such as fabric paints.
  • small long tipped brushes, other brushes
  • if practicing, then you will also need plastic nail tips and a small wooden dowel to glue the nails on while u practice.
  • nail polish remover
  • cotton balls
  • nail glue
  • toothpicks?
  1. Step 1

If you are practicing by using plastic nails, the first step is to glue the nail/s onto a wooden dowel or practice finger which can easily be found at a beauty supply store. If practicing on yourself, make sure your nails are clean and free from other polishes.

  2. Step 2

Take out your polishes and paints. There are special nail polishes with longer brushes you can buy as well that work fabulously ( also found at beauty supply stores). Also grab your brushes. They don't HAVE to be long tipped brushes but they work much better when first starting out. Make sure the brushes are clean of course. If using paints make sure to grab water and paper towel if you are going to use the same brush continuously. Just like when we were kids :)

  3. Step 3

By using slow, long or short strokes, practice by making lines and dots with your brush. It will take a few times to get the hang of it, but it ends up being quite simple. Use the tip of your brush to make dots. Just play with it! There are also brushes available with a dotter at the end to make it simple.

  4. Step 4

There are other ways to make cool designs as well such as the one in the picture. Just paint 2 colors side by side and swirl them together with a toothpick. The possibilities are endless with nail art. So have fun with it!
