Step 1
Create a laundry schedule. Scheduling specific days to specific types of laundry will help you to stay one top of this task. Divide the laundry into specific groups. You may want these groups to be specific rooms such as bathroom laundry or bedroom laundry. You can even set aside specific days to do the laundry of specific household members.
-
Step 2
Place a hamper in each room. Instruct everyone to place the dirty laundry in the hamper. Have additional laundry baskets in your laundry room. Label them clearly as to the type of laundry that should go in them such as whites, colors, delicates and the like.
-
Step 3
Arrange your laundry so that everything is easily within your reach. Place rugs in front of both the washing machine and the dryer to prevent slips. Keep the laundry room neat and tidy so finding items will be easier.
-
Step 4
Keep all of your laundry supplies in the laundry room. Add cabinets or other storage for detergents, bleach, fabric softeners and the like. Avoid placing your laundry supplies on open shelves. Keep your laundry supplies hidden so your laundry room doesn’t look cluttered. Make sure that your laundry supplies are kept away from children and pets.
-
Step 5
Keep all of your laundry tools such as your iron, ironing board and hangers in one area of your laundry room. Make sure they are in working order at all times. Use a collapsible table as a place to fold your laundry, making sure it can be tucked away, out of sight, when you are finishes with it.
