Things You'll Need:
- Pumice Stone
- Moisturizer
- Thick Socks
- Comfortable, Low Heel Shoes
-
Step 1
Not only do you need to know how to cure a callus but you need to know how to prevent one too in order to stop the callus from growing. Wearing thick socks with comfortable running shoe that has a low heel will help relieve the pressure on the front of the foot, helping to prevent corns or calluses.
-
Step 2
Talking with a podiatrist, a.k.a. a food doctor, will also help with the prevention of calluses. They can help you find ways to adjust the pressure placed on your feet and possibly prescribe an insole to matters.
-
Step 3
Now, before you can treat your calluses on your feet you must know where they are! For most, a callus is easily visible on the bottom of the foot. Others will have to fill around or give themselves a foot massage in order to locate any calluses.
-
Step 4
Take a shower or bath in order to clean your feet and soften the skin. This is particularly important if the callus has cracked.
-
Step 5
While the skin is softened from the water, use a Pumice stone to exfoliate the area of the corn or callus. This will help flake off or remove some of the dead skin that makes up the actual callus.
-
Step 6
If your callus has deeply cracked or has become infected, go see a doctor immediately for treatment. At this point it is serious and must be cured correctly beyond the guidance of this article.
-
Step 7
Make it a habit to use a lotion or moisturizer on your feet. This will help keep the skin from drying out and also help prevent and treat a callus.
