How to Make Sweet Potato Tops Salad

Sweet potato tops salad is a common salad for Filipinos. They love to eat this type of salad with rice. This is a different way of making salad compared to the western style salad.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 bundle of sweet potato tops ( young leaves of sweet potatoes. camote)
  • 2-3 tbsp of lemone juice
  • small piece of ginger root
  • small onion
  • 1 tomatoes
  • 2-3 tbsp soy sauce
  1. Step 1

    Wash the potato leaves thoroughly. Cut the leaves separating the stems. You can include the softer part of the stem but throw away the hard ones.

  2. Step 2

    Blanch the sweet potato leaves in a kettle. You can put a small amount of water in the kettle just enough to cook the leaves. Don't over cook it. Set aside.

  3. Step 3

    Slice the ginger root, onions and tomatoes finely. Then set it aside. If you use a fresh lemon juice, slice the lemon juice and squeeze it. Get at least 3 tbsp. of lemon juice.

  4. Step 4

    Mix the lemon juice and the soy sauce. Put in the soy sauce and lemon juice mixture the chopped ginger, onion and tomatoes.

  5. Step 5

    In a big bowl combined the soy sauce mixture and the blanched sweet potato leaves. Mix thoroughly until even. Serve hot.

Tips & Warnings
  • The young sweet potato tops are best in this type of salad.
  • This is nutritious
