Avoid Family Conflict

I am the youngest of four children, there is a seven year gap between myself and my youngest sibling. My views and opinions are very different from my brothers and my sister. They find fault with themselves as well as my mother at every turn. Sometimes I just can't understand it. So I have found my own ways to keep the peace.

Instructions

    • 1

Listen but do not speak. (remember we are avoiding family conflict.) Sometimes people just need to vent.

    • 2

Keep an open mind, try to see things from everyone's point of view. Remember everyone has a right to his/her feelings. (right or wrong) Do not judge.

    • 3

Do not share with other family members what has been entrusted to you.

    • 4

Let go of what has been said, it is not your problem. Do not take ownership of someone else's issues.

    • 5

Most importantly, love each member unconditionally. They are your family. God knows what he is doing, and they are yours for a reason.

Tips & Warnings

  • Live and let live

  • If the issues are overwhelming to you, than say that. Tell them you are to close to the issue and do not want to be involved.

  • Try not to give advice, it may just come back to haunt you.
