Step 1
The first step to remove cat urine smells is to frequently clean the litter box. If you do not clean your litter box frequently then the smells will drift to every room in your house. Your cat will also not use a littler box that is full of urine and feces. They will find other places to use the restroom.

Step 2
If you suspect that your cat has used the restroom in other parts of your house then you need to locate these spots to remove the cat urine smells. The easiest way to find these is to turn off all the lights in your home and use a black light. The black light will illuminate any cat urine spots so that you can easily locate them.

Step 3
Once you have located the cat urine spots you need to clean them. You can use commercial products or you can make your own. To make your own, combine one part distilled white vinegar to two parts warm water to create a spray.

Step 4
If your cat is using your potted plants as a litter box then you can place orange peels or pine cones on top of the soil. Cats do not like these scents all will avoid these areas.
