How to Apply for Food Stamps in Georgia Online

The Georgia Department of Human Services allows residents to apply for food stamps, Medicaid and other assistance online. While applying for assistance, do not use the forward, back or stop button on your web browser to move from page to page; use the buttons on the website.

Instructions

1. Go to the Common Point of Access to Social Services (COMPASS) page of the website (see Resources).

2. Click on the icon labeled "Am I Eligible?" to review eligibility requirements you must meet to qualify for assistance.

3. Click on the icon labeled "Apply for Benefits."

4. Click the box labeled "Start a New Application." If you've begun filling in your information but are unable to finish, you can return to this page and click "Keep working on an application that you have already started" to continue from where you stopped.

5. Click "Next" in the lower right-hand corner. You will be taken to the start of the application process. Fill out the necessary fields and continue to click the lower-right "Next" button to complete the entire application process. This typically takes between 30 and 60 minutes.

6. After you've finished and submitted your application, you can return to the main page and click "Application Status Check" to check for information on your food stamps application.
