Here are some tips on how to take apart your wireless xbox 360 controller. There are many different things that you can do with your xbox 360 controller like add graphics, paint the controller or modify your xbox 360 controller.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start out by making sure that the Xbox 360 controller is not turned on. The green lights around the Xbox button should not be lit. Take off the battery pack located on the back of the Xbox 360 controller.

  2. Step 2

Take off the serial number and screws on the back of your Xbox 360 controller. There are a total of 7 screws that you will need to remove off of the back of your xbox 360 controller. Remove the screws on the outside of the controller and work your way to the middle, removing the screw in the middle, under the serial number last.

  3. Step 3

Now take apart the Xbox 360 controller. Gently pull on each side of the controller until it comes apart. Now remove the bottom plastic piece of the Xbox 360 Controller. Once you have removed this piece, you are ready to remove the circuit board.

  4. Step 4

Be careful not to damage any pieces of the circuit board and pull it off of the Xbox 360 controller. Now Remove all of the Rubber pieces and Buttons from the Xbox 360 controller. Place all pieces somewhere safe so that you do not lose anything when you try to put your Xbox 360 controller back together.

  5. Step 5

Use a small flathead screwdriver to release the directional pad from the Xbox 360 controller. Now remove the Bumper buttons located on the top of the Xbox 360 controller. These should pop right off with a small amount of pressure.

  6. Step 6

Now you will need to remove the rumble packs and trigger buttons from the circuit board. Remove the white plug attached to the rumble packs from the circuit board. Be careful while removing this so that you do not damage anything on the circuit board. Remove the triggers from the circuit board and your Xbox 360 controller will be completly disassembled.
