When you can't sleep you'll try any insomnia cure out there. I used to have problems with insomnia and I've tried everything from marching in a bucket of warm water in the middle of the night to putting an onion in my pillow case. I was tired and desperate, but I didn't want to take sleeping pills.

I've tried quite a few natural remedies for insomnia. Some work better than others. Here's a natural insomnia cure that's easy to do and effective.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small cotton pillow case
  • Hops
  • Lavender
  • Needle and thread
  1. Step 1

Dry your herbs. The hops and lavender must be dry to make this insomnia cure. You can dry herbs by tying them together in bunches and hanging them upside down. They take about 2 weeks to dry this way. If you want them to dry out more quickly you could put them in the oven on low heat for about 30 minutes.

  2. Step 2

Once your herbs are dry fill your pillow case with equal parts lavender and hops. Hops contain a chemical called dimethylvinyl carbinol that helps calm the nervous system. Hops are commonly used to reduce anxiety and restlessness. It's also a popular insomnia cure. Lavender is famous for it's relaxing qualities. If you don't like the smell of lavender you can replace it with chamomile another relaxing herb or you can just use hops.

  3. Step 3

Once you have the pillow loosely stuffed with herbs sew up the open in so that the herbs don't fall out.

  4. Step 4

Sleep on the herbal pillow at night. Inhaling the fragrance will make you feel very sleepy.

Tips & Warnings
  • The pillow will last a few months before it starts loosing its effectiveness.
