Coca-cola, also called Coke, is a carbonated drink with a dark brown color to it. While it is OK to drink Coca-Cola every so often, it can be harmful to your health to drink it daily. In addition to its caffeine and sugar, it contains acid. This acid actually makes the Coca-Cola useful for something other than consumption. It will get rust off of metal objects.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Can of Coca-Cola Rusted object Plastic glass Towel
  1. Step 1

Place your rusted object in a plastic cup.

  2. Step 2

Pour the Coca-Cola from the can in to the plastic cup. Make sure that you have completely covered the rusted object.

  3. Step 3

Leave the plastic cup out overnight without disturbing it. You may want to take a peek to see if it is working, but don't! Allow the Coca-Cola to begin eating away at the rust.

  4. Step 4

Take the rusted object out of the plastic cup the next morning and wipe it down with a dry towel. The rust will be easily removed by the towel as the Coca-Cola did all the work during the night getting it loose from the metal.

  5. Step 5

Check to make sure all of the rust is gone. If you have some left, place the rusted object back in to a plastic cup. Make sure you use fresh Coca-Cola and give it one more night to get the rest of the rust off.

Tips & Warnings
  • To remove rust from a large object, soak a towel in Coca-Cola. Then lay the towel over the rusted area and let it sit for a day. Use a dry towel to wipe away the rust. To remove rust from your bumper, you can dip an aluminum foil ball in Coca-Cola and scrub.
