If you are putting together a website or creating marketing materials, knowing how to create gradient filled text can really impress your clients or boss. Learning how to create an outlined text logo with a color gradient applied to it is simple. The steps below use Photoshop, but any good graphics program should be able to create gradient filled text.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open Photoshop. Select "File" and click "New." Choose the size settings for your logo. Make the resolution appropriate to your project (72 for the web and at least 150 for most printed projects).

  2. Step 2

Select a font type that has an outline. If you don't have one, go online to download the font you need (See Resources). Type in your text. Select "Layer" and click "Rasterize Type."

  3. Step 3

Go to Layers, hold down the CTRL key, and click on the image next to the text layer. This will select the text.

  4. Step 4

Choose the foreground and background colors for the gradient. Click on the gradient tool and drag it across the selection.
