Decide what size you'd like your banner to be. A typical banner size, especially if you want other websites to display your banner, is 468-by-60. This gives you room to create a decent flashing banner without taking up too much valuable real estate on someone else's website. If the banner is for your own website, add a little to the height.

Open Banner Maker and choose "New" from the "File" menu. The software presents you with a dialogue box asking you to select the size of your banner.
