How to Unfreeze Panes
Microsoft Excel 2007 includes 16,386 columns and 1,048,576 rows, so a spreadsheet can become large and difficult to manage. Freezing and unfreezing panes in Excel makes it easier to work within these large spreadsheets. You can lock specific columns and/or rows while you scroll to find and enter your data more efficiently.

Open the spreadsheet you want to freeze.

Select the row below the one you want to freeze by clicking on the row header.

Select the row just below the one you want to freeze by clicking on the row header. This will make a specific row or rows visible as you scroll within Excel. Select the "View" tab in the "Windows" group, and choose "Freeze Panes." Select "Freeze Panes" from the pop-up list to keep rows visible while your worksheet scrolls.

Make a specific column or columns visible as you scroll within Excel by selecting the column to the right of the one you want to freeze and clicking on the column header. Make both the column(s) and rows(s) visible as you scroll within Excel by selecting the cell below and to the right of the columns and rows you want to freeze.
