The Google toolbar is a specialized web application that adds a Google search bar to the top of your web browser and allows you to use specialize gadgets for one-touch access to your Gmail, Google News and other web services. If you add a button to the Google toolbar that you later find you don't use, removing it is fairly easy.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open a browser window and go to the "View" menu and select "toolbars." You will see a list of all your installed toolbars. Select Google Toolbar from the list and then select "Customize."

  2. Step 2

A new window will pop up with all the available gadgets and tools that you can use on your Google toolbar. Click back over to the browser window and then drag and drop any gadgets/tools that you want to remove into the new window.

  3. Step 3

Close the window with the gadget icons and then restart your browser. You should see your toolbar with the removed tools/gadgets removed.

Tips & Warnings
  • To set your buttons back to the default settings, simply go back to the customize window and press the "Restore Default Set" button. When you restart you will see all the default buttons restored.
  • Button removal is a feature that is only available in the Firefox version of the Google Toolbar.
