How to Use XBox 360 Hard Drive

The Microsoft Xbox 360 hard drive adds functionality to the home video game console. Installing a hard drive on your Xbox 360 allows you to save games and movies. You'll also be able to install a large number of Xbox Live Arcade games and add-on game content as well. Having a hard drive on your Xbox 360 will also give you the ability to install your full games to decrease the loading times necessary to play the game. Microsoft offers 20, 60 and 120 GB versions of its hardware.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Verify that your game has been saved, if applicable, and turn off your Xbox 360.

  2. Step 2

    Take off the hard drive bay cover from the Xbox 360. The hard drive bay is located on the left side of the console. Place the hard drive over the hard drive bay with the narrow end facing toward the front of the Xbox 360.

  3. Step 3

    Place the ridge on the back end of the hard drive under the lip on the back of the hard drive bay. Press the front of the hard drive down until the hard drive clicks into place.

Tips & Warnings
  • Most users will find that the 20 or 60 GB version of the Microsoft Xbox 360 hard drive offer them plenty of storage space.
