How to Add New Yahoo Messenger Audibles

Yahoo! Messenger audibles are a fun feature that adds animated characters to your instant messaging experience. There are a variety of audibles that include all kinds of themes, including greetings and insults, and speak as they are delivered to the intended recipient. You can easily add this functionality by signing into your account and using your messenger window to view current versions of the icons as well as check for new audibles when they are posted by Yahoo!.

Things You'll Need

• Windows XP or Vista Yahoo! Messenger account

Instructions

1. Log in to your Yahoo! Messenger account.

2. Open "Preferences" from the file menu and select "Messages."

3. Check "Enable Audibles" from the "Miscellaneous" screen, if you do not already have this set. This allows you to click the audibles icon in your Messenger window. Click the "OK" button to save your setting.

4. Go to your Messenger window and click the "More Audibles" button on the right side. Click the "See All Audibles" button to select and add new audibles from the list. You can select audibles by category to find the latest icons available.

5. Look for new audibles around the holidays as Yahoo! generally releases these themed ones (for example, Halloween and Christmas) at this time. Periodically check the audible list in your Messenger window as Yahoo! adds new sets once in awhile.

6. Upgrade to the latest Yahoo! Messenger when new versions are released to get the new audibles that come with it.

• Audibles are not available for the Mac or for users outside the United States.
