Things You'll Need:
- Open USB port

Step 1
Take the USB plug on the external floppy disk drive and plug it into the available USB port on the laptop. There is no need to reboot. The laptop will see the drive as soon as you plug it in.

Open the start menu and click on "My Computer" to see available drives. The drive should show under "Devices with Removable Storage." If not, it will be under "Scanners and Cameras." It will display the name "Floppy Disk Drive."

Step 3
Use the mouse to double click the drive. This will open up the drive and display any files on the floppy or it will be empty, waiting for you to transfer files to it.

Step 4
Use the mouse and double click the file you want to view to open it. If you want to transfer a file to the floppy, simply find the file, right click the mouse, select "Send to" and select the floppy drive.
