How to Turn Old T-shirt Into a Tote Bag

Do you have an old t-shirt you just can't part with? This is a great way to reinvent that old shirt into a tote bag. It's simple and easy to do and your recycling at the same time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Old t-shirt
• sewing machine if you don't have one you need heat and bond (found in your craft store)
• iron
• thread if your sewing
• something for handles ( I like to use an old belt or ribbon that matches)

1. Take your t-shirt that is already washed and lay flat on your work surface.

2. Cut off sleeves and cut a straight line under collar to take it off.

3. For the ones using the heat and bond following the instructions on the package to make the bond. If using the sewing machine turn your shirt inside out and stitch a straight line to close the seem where the sleeves use to be.

4. Next turn down the top hem where the collar use to be and stick it down to finish off the opening of the bag. Now turn bag right side out.

5. With bag now right side out figure where you want your strap of your choice and heat bond it on or stitch which ever method your using. You are now finished with bag. If you like you can add more embellishments.

• Heat and bond products are not always permanent read package carefully.
• Always follow instructions
• Get creative with your bag by using embellishments
• If using iron it can burn you or your work surface.
• Some heat and bond doesn't hold as well as sewing choose your fabric carefully.
