Step 1
Most PCs run slow because over time because of a couple reasons. The first is too many programs running. Make sure you are don't have any programs that you don't need running, as these will use up all of your computer's resources. In particular, make sure there aren't any StartUp programs that automatically launch when you boost your computer that you don't need.

Step 2
Another way to make computer run faster is to add more memory. Disassemble your computer and see if there are any slots left for memory sticks. If so, check to see how much memory your motherboard can handle and the type of memory it uses. Then visit your local electronics store to get some more RAM. This can cost you about $100 though.

If your computer was much faster at one point, there's another thing you can do that will make it run like new. Use a Registry Cleaner to clean up all the old files that are no longer in use. This is a free piece of software you can download (see resources below) that will remove all the old, corrupt files that are no longer needed on your computer. This alone can have dramatic improvements and make your computer run faster.

Don't forget to run a virus scan. There could be something infecting your PC that is causing it to run slow. Make sure your virus software is up-to-date and do a full system scan to disinfect your entire system.
