Things You'll Need:
- fashion magazines
- a good eye for sales
- an open mind
-
Step 1
astrocrack.comLook through current fashion magazines for the latest styles. Your local library is a great place to start! My favorites are Glamour and Allure. Notice colors, patterns, lengths, accessories.
-
Step 2
Know what feels comfortable to you. The long skirt and beaded headband might look great on the model, but just not something that you would feel right in? Turn the page! If a trend just isn't right for you, don't succumb. It will be gone by next season!
-
Step 3
flickr.comKeep an eye out for garage sales and flea markets! These are great places to look for things. I have found shoes barely worn for a couple of bucks, or cotton print skirts that you can piece with a t-shirt and sandals. Look for items that are not too worn or have pills or snags; check seams for rips and look for stains. If it is stained, pass it up. Don't be afraid to ask if they'll take a lesser amount for the item. Many times, people just want to get rid of it! And also, don't forget the Goodwill. Check often -- inventory changes!

Step 4
Accessories can really help make an outfit. Keep an eye out for sales and clearances on earrings, bracelets, belts and scarves. Bracelets look great in the summer with short sleeves. Scarves are great worn around your waist and knotted at the side. Look for bright patterns and colors to accent a solid-colored outfit (white t-shirt and white shorts, for example.)
-
Step 5
Look around for clearance sales. I never buy unless it is at least 50% off, and take advantage of coupon sales. Also, I have found some items (bras clearanced for $2.50!) at places like Big Lots, or Aldi's (I found a pajama set for $6.) Keep an eye out for when stores are having clearance sales--they may be marking down even further in the coming weeks.

Step 6
No outfit looks complete without a smile and a good attitude. Shopping for a bargain should be fun and it definitely "pays" off!
