Is there possibly anything more annoying than getting an email that takes forever to decipher? Avoid a possible email faux-pas by following these simple ideas.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • computer with Internet capabilities
  • email address
  1. Step 1

If forwarding an email, be sure to clear the names of the previous sender and addressees.

  2. Step 2

If sending a mass email, click on the BCC button. This stands for Blind Carbon Copy. This prevents any old Joe Shmoe on your list from getting the email addresses of other people. Some people do prefer to keep their email address private.

  3. Step 3

Use the subject headline and make sure it ties in with the content of your message.

  4. Step 4

When typing your message, use proper punctuation and capitalization. Be sure to clearly indicate the beginning of new paragraphs as well.

  5. Step 5

Avoid using acronyms such as "ttyl" (talk to you later) or "rotfl" (rolling on the floor laughing). Not everyone knows what all the acronyms stand for, and for the most part they are annoying.

  6. Step 6

When replying back to a message, be sure to click the "reply" button and not the "reply to all" button UNLESS your message is relevant to everyone on the addressee list.

  7. Step 7

Finally, it is not necessary to forward every single little cutesy frilly email you get to everyone you know. You will not have bad luck for 32 years if you delete these junk messages instead of forwarding them. You will likewise not get a check from Microsoft if you do forward them to everyone in your contact list.
