Everybody has financial struggles and sometimes our eating habits have to suffer. I've had struggles and I've had to think of healthy cheap meals to make for my kids. We call this Poorman's Dinner. It turned out to be an experiment but is now a regular dinner at our house.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 Large can Bush's baked beans
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 1 bag shredded cheddar cheese
  1. Step 1

Brown the onion with your ground beef in a large skillet. The onion will help flavor the meet as it cooks. Be sure to drain the fat off the meat after browning.

  2. Step 2

Open your can of Bush's baked beans, and pour them in the skillet with the browned hamburger and onion. Season to taste with salt and pepper

  3. Step 3

Simmer on medium heat until the beans are hot and ready to eat, which is usually about 10-15 minutes. Make sure you stir occassionally so it doesn't burn to the bottom of your skillet and cause a dish washing issue for you later.

  4. Step 4

Once your Poorman's dinner is heated well, turn the heat off and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top and cover for about 3 minutes allowing the cheese to melt nicely over the top.
